EXPRESSING THANKFULNESS
November 15, 2021

Prayer: Lord may I never forget to thank You for my life, my work, and my family and friends who love me. Amen

Scripture: Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men. Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders. Psalm 107:31-32 NIV

If you have your Bible with you, please read all of Psalm 107. If not now, please read it when you get home tonight. Psalm 107 contains 43 verses that create a compiled (but not complete) list of reasons to be thankful and how to express thankfulness. Here are a few of the examples:

  • He guides when you cannot find your way – Some of you may have wandered in the desert for a while trying to decide what to do with your life, where to live, or who to share it with. Throughout life you are faced with many tough decisions. Give thanks that He guides you.

  • He forgives your sins and breaks the chains that hold you in the bondage of guilt – Many of you have experienced guilt that holds you captive. You suffer mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Some of you know He forgives, but still hold yourself captive to guilt. Receive His forgiveness, and thank Him for breaking your chains of guilt.

  • He saves you from distress, affliction, and troubles – Whether you suffer from disease, a corrupt working environment, difficulties from bad decisions or the decisions of others; God rescues and heals. Thank Him for the times that He has rescued, healed or restored you.

  • He meets your needs, rewards your faith and blesses you in ways you never imagined – Thank Him for what He has given to you and yours.

As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, I want to encourage you to share with someone the many reasons you have to be thankful. Secondly, I ask that you think of just a few people you know – students, family, friends, neighbors, etc. who are suffering in one of the areas I mentioned. Pray for them every day. My prayer for you is that God would be exalted through your expressed thankfulness.
