ORDERED BY THE LORD
January 05, 2021

Prayer: Lord, order my steps today. Not just mine, but the steps of every person with whom I have to do today. Let me relax knowing that You do order my steps. And Lord, thank You for the keys! Please help me use them wisely today as I deal with the students whom You so graciously entrusted to me. I pray You help each one to hear You calling to their heart and that they commit their lives to You. Thank You. Amen.

Scripture: The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23

We get into the car or go online to face another day of interruptions. We have papers to grade, classes to teach, lesson plans to create, and we know, before we even turn on the ignition or log onto the computer, that we won’t be able to finish one thing without interruptions.

Perhaps it is a phone call or email from a parent, or an administrator looming in the doorway. Perhaps it is another teacher asking how to fill out paperwork or a student who is having conflict with another student. If you are working from home, it could even be a family member or a pet who needs your attention.

The Bible says in Psalm 37:23 that the steps of the righteous man (teacher) are ordered of the Lord. I love that Scripture. It tells me that I don’t have to worry about being in the right place at the right time, and all my paperwork will be turned in on time!

If my steps are ordered of the Lord it means that God Himself is taking my feet and putting one before the other. I pray that God orders other people’s steps in my life as well, so the principal will talk to me at the right time, the phone will ring at the right time, and the students will come to me at the right time.

Ah Lord. My steps are ordered by you. As I get into my car to drive to school today, or log in to my Zoom class, I remember that I do have the keys! I hold the keys to the hearts of 30 or 150 students. I hold the keys to how they view education, how they come to enjoy reading, what career choices they make, and what kinds of parents they become. Any frazzled teacher is welcome to write to me. I know you’ll email at the right time! Our steps are ordered of the Lord.
