LISTEN FOR THE GENTLE WHISPER – 10/08/2019

Prayer: We ask for grace to wait and listen for Your voice today. 

Scripture: After the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:12NLT

When Elijah experiences this amazing encounter with God, it was after he had called down fire upon the sacrifices and burned up even the evil priests of Baal. Yet here he was running in fear of the evil King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. In his crisis he desperately longed to hear from God, whose word he has heard and spoken so many times before. In his desperation he looked for God’s words in all of the most powerful sources he could identify. But those things, though created by God, were not to be the voice by which God would communicate to the heart of man. That process is left for the ‘still small voice’ as the KJV says it, or the ‘gentle whisper’ upon the mind of the one seeking after God and His will.

Are you a Christ-follower?? Are you one facing a crisis and longing to hear from God?? Speak your need to Him then wait upon Him. His gentle whisper will come to your heart and mind when the right time comes. God hears and God answers prayers of faithful men and women. You can count on that. And the answer will come to you gently and in love for it comes from our Loving Heavenly Father.

May this day bring you greater peace because you are trusting in the Lord and waiting upon His gentle whisper.
