DECISIONS, DECISIONS
September 17, 2019

Prayer: Please lead us today, Lord, in the way we think. We need Your wisdom as we decide what to wear physically and spiritually.

Scripture: Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Col. 3:12 NLT

It wasn’t that I didn’t have anything to wear, but I just couldn’t find the right outfit. This was an ordinary day of school, so why was I bothering to put on, take off, try something else, until I finally was satisfied? Dressing properly was important to me, and, forgive me if I’m meddling, but I think teachers should make an effort to look neat and professional. In my opinion, they, and others, hold the teaching profession in higher regard if educators dress the part.

I do believe that all the details of our influence in this world concern God, but Scripture does say that He is most concerned with our hearts. If I had not spent time before Him that morning, getting His perspective, hearing His voice through His word, He would not have been pleased no matter what I wore.  If the outfit didn’t include the whole armor of God, I was going to be beaten up by the Enemy. If I wasn’t clothed in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, what business did I have even going to school!

Yes, take care what you wear, because you are representing Christ, but more importantly, take care that you put on the apparel that God supplies. He knows exactly the outfit you will need for each day, and He will fit you properly with His armor, and His Spirit.
