Prayer: Please help us to honor You in all we do today.
Scripture: You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever! Ps. 30:11-12 NLT
He had informed his mother. Thursdays he wouldn’t be wearing his jeans to school because that was chorus rehearsal day. Apparently, Lucas considered chorus rehearsal a special event, and he wanted to look his best. This information coming from his mother made me smile, and it delighted me that Lucas thought of chorus in such special terms. He clearly showed his pride and joy at belonging to this group.
We, as Christians, have been chosen, too, as members of a very special kingdom. Do we reflect the pride and joy that we should? God wants us to rejoice in Him, and in the service to which He has called us. Do we delight in even the most mundane of tasks because we have been called to serve the King of Kings? How easy to get caught up in the bitter complaining of the teachers’ lounge or to consider the same old tasks as hum-drum and ordinary. But remember Whose you are, and Whom you serve. Let that reminder set you apart from the others, and clothe you in joy today.
