INCONVENIENCED
May 20, 2019

Prayer: Lord, I am unsure what You would be calling on me to do or what my own mind is inventing.  Please lead me today.  Thank You.  Amen.

Scripture: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.  If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. I John 3:16-18 NIV

Most, if not, all of us will never be called on to actually “lay down our Life” for another, but what about laying aside your life?  We are so busy and wrapped up in our needs and responsibilities that when a brother or sister is in need, it can be a big inconvenience for us to help out.  My office receives hundreds of prayer requests each week, and I am sad to say that most of you will experience at least one very hard, very painful situation this year in your school, and some of you may experience more – many more.  In your school, it is important that you take action when these things occur.  Go to the hospital, make the meals; provide what is needed; love and minister.  Get creative!  It is amazing what comfort and cheer comes from mopping a floor or reading the Bible to someone who is receiving chemotherapy treatments.  Right now you may be distracted trying to remember the last time you mopped your own floor, but that is what John is talking about in today’s verses.  Not only should we be willing to die for one another, but we should also be willing to be inconvenienced to serve one another in the name of Jesus Christ.  I pray that as you face your difficult situations, you will not hide behind schedules and exhaustion.

Be the first to volunteer, showing all of those around you what it means to have God’s love in you.  What are some things that you can plan and do to make a difference as a Christian at your school?  When was the last time you were inconvenienced in the name of the Lord?
