END OF THE YEAR
May 31, 2019

Prayer: We lift up our students to You, Lord, and ask that You keep them safe over the summer.  May each one come to know You more deeply and the great plans You have for their lives. Please don’t let one of them die without salvation.  We trust You, Lord.  Thank You for loving them more than we do.

Scripture: Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Another school year has come to a close. This time is always bittersweet. In need of some much needed and deserved rest, teachers look forward to the end of the year. Yet, concerned for the students who may spend the summer unsupervised, or who may join up with “the wrong crowd,” teachers worry about what will happen to their students.

I spoke with a teacher who told his eleventh grade class to look around because statistics showed it was probable that they would lose at least one classmate that summer. That very night, one of the most popular students of that class died in an accident that did not involve drugs or alcohol. This young man was a strong Christian with a bright future. He was looking forward to his senior year, and was seeking ways to impact his class for Christ.

Please continue to pray for one another and your students throughout the summer. Continue to seek God, be guided by Him, and hunger for what is righteous. Know that your labor in the Lord has not been in vain, even if you have not seen the results for which you had hoped. Look back at your journals or prayer pages and thank God for the many ways that He has answered prayer this year. Commit, right now, to pray with other teachers in the coming school year, and continue to grow in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ over the summer months.
