Prayer: Oh Lord, please lead me in living for You today.  I pray for the salvation of all my unsaved students and co-workers. Thank You.  Amen.

Scripture: You have been called by God to be holy. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as He did all Christians everywhere.
1 Corinthians 1:1-2 NLT

In a world saturated with evil, it is hard to imagine how we can remain holy. Certainly we are not really able to make ourselves holy. How long so many of us have tried to create ‘righteousness’ and only ended up stumbling over our pride when we thought we had succeeded and then crashing in our despair when we later failed.

God does call us to be holy, that is true. But He does not expect or even ask us to make ourselves holy. God has done the job for us. It is through our faith in Christ as our Savior from sin and as Lord of our lives that His holiness becomes transferred into us. Thus we are holy, but only through the Lord. The only power strong enough to impute (credit to our account) holiness to us is Jesus Christ.  And, only Christ’s power can shield us from the strength of sin over our nature.

Since the Lord our God has gone to such great lengths and sacrifice to make us holy, shouldn’t we take Him up on His offer?  Why ever do some of us delay and defer??

I pray your day is filled with the rejoicing that comes upon you every time you are reminded that God has made YOU holy, in spite of your past.
