I’LL STAY FOR YOU
March 7, 2019

Prayer:  Oh Lord, I pray for Your amazing grace to bring Your presence to my school this day.  Thank you, Lord.  Amen.

Scripture: When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you truly love Me more than these?  Yes, Lord,” he said, “You know that I love You.”  Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”  John 21:15 NIV

Do I really want this job, Lord? It’s so hard!

The parents expect us to be parents to their children when they can’t even do it themselves! The state wants our students to score high on the standardized tests and all the kids want to do is sleep in class and play! I come home from school with profanity ringing in my ears from words in the hallway!

The teacher’s lounge isn’t much better with gossip and stories of week-ends full of drinking and gambling and sex!

God! Why did you put me here?

You said go ye into all the world! Can’t I go to Europe? Or even Africa? God, any place would be better than this school full of chaos and sin! Oh God! But I feel Your hand on my shoulder saying, “Tend My little ones!” Lord, I know that Your little ones aren’t only the students. They are the parents who are hurting themselves and therefore hurting their children; they are the teachers who haven’t tasted of Your goodness.

Yes, Lord. I hear You. For You so loved the students, teachers, and parents of this school that You gave Your only begotten Son…..Yes, Lord. I will stay. Give me the grace, Lord to bring Your sweetness, Your peace, Your understanding to my school. Thank You Lord.

Thank you for sharing. I really need to hear this because I recently have been subbing in schools that have a lot of behavioral problems and a lot of disrespect. I was getting discouraged, but I know I needed to continue my teaching degree because those schools needed people like us to set a good example in the schools. Thank you for the words of encouragement.

That one shining light may be the lighthouse that leads one to a safe harbor. Thank you for sharing this message with those teachers who feel alone within their buildings and even within many faculties. It is even harder now with the influences of social media and constant examples of a hedonist world pressing upon both students and parents as you have noted in this devotional.
