COVERED
October 19, 2018

Prayer: Dear God, please forgive me for all my sins and cover me forever with forgiveness because Jesus paid the price for me. Please let me know how and when to share this ‘Good News’ with someone. I pray You will save all co-workers and my students. Thank You for Your great mercy and loving-kindness. Amen.

Scripture: Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Psalm 32:1 NIV

Have you ever had someone say to you, “I’ve got you covered?” What does that mean to you? In a restaurant, it might mean they are paying for your bill. In an instance where you need help fulfilling a debt or responsibility, it may mean that they will fill in the gap where you are not able. In today’s Scripture, we are reminded that those whose sins are covered are blessed. Only Christ could say to us “I’ve got you covered!” No good works, no self-inflicted punishment, no family member or close friend could cover our sins. But Christ paid the full price for our sins. He took on the responsibility and suffering where we were not able. He paid the price.

My family jokes that my gravestone will probably read, “Never pay full price.” I am a serious bargain shopper who refuses to ever pay full price for anything. Although I really do not want to be remembered forever for my shopping practices, it dawned on me that this is the message I try to spread every day to everyone I meet – never pay full price. When it comes to our sins, Christ has us covered.  All we need to do is believe in Him, confess and repent from our sins and make Him true Lord of our lives. That is far from paying the full price of a torturous eternity in hell.  You cannot afford to miss this opportunity. If you have unsettled debt (sin) in your life, I ask you to go now to the one who can cover it all. Confess, ask forgiveness and be covered.
