EAGERLY EXTOL EVERY DAY – 9/12/2018
September 12, 2018

Prayer: May we fill the heavens and the earth with praise and thankfulness as we eagerly extol God every day.

Scripture: I will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. 5 On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. 6 Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness. 7 They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness and will shout joyfully of Your righteousness. Psalm 145:1-7 NAS

I am convinced that one of the main reasons that the Church is dwindling in faith and size, is that as believers we are can be a grumbling, bickering, discouraged – if not panicked group of people. We see God move mountains one day, healing a friend near death, providing funds for a desperate family, saving our jobs for another year, and many other prayers being answered; and the very next day we are downcast, discouraged or downright depressed. Our joy is short lived, and I wonder did we take the time to bless Him with a holy, joy-filled thank you, or did we flash a quick smile with a five second “golf clap” and call it “Praise?” I apologize for the negativity, but when is the last time you got excited and energetic in your time of thanks to the Lord? His mighty power, His awesome acts, His goodness, glorious splendor, righteousness, mercy and love have not decreased since the days of the penning of this Psalm. We need to bless, praise, declare, share, tell, eagerly utter, give thanks, speak of His glory all the more, knowing that He is near as we call upon Him. We want Him to hear our cry for help, for salvation, for strength, protection, blessing and all the desires of our heart, but first and foremost, I challenge us to eagerly extol Him every day with heart-felt, joy-filled, energized, enthusiastic praise and thanks. It is good for our attitude to be filled with gratitude. It is great for our witness to be filled with trust and joy. It is glorifying to share these extolling emotions with everyone around us that one day, “all flesh will bless His holy name.”
