THE COUNT DOWN
May 24, 2018

Prayer:  Oh, Jesus, please help us to daily allow You to carry our load.  Be our Partner, Guide, and Friend.  Thank You.

Scripture: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, & I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NIV

Have you caught your breath yet?  Whew!  For me, the school days are flying by.  Before I know it, the final exams will be in progress; and the students have so much to learn before then!  In addition, we have extra school activities, assemblies, state-wide testing.  Finally, with the warmer, sunny days and spring fever, the students’ minds are sometimes anywhere but in the classroom.  What is a teacher to do?  We often feel stretched to the limit of our strength, yet there are always more things awaiting our attention.

Instead of panic, let’s turn our attention to God’s Word.  In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus, our Mediator, offers a plan that we cannot refuse.  He merely says, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  What a relief!  Jesus wants us not to worry and stress over our “load”; but He wants to help us carry it.  He wants us to lay our burdens at His feet and allow His strength to flow through us.

Each morning, we have the wonderful privilege as His children to snuggle close to Him and allow His plan and wisdom to flow through us.  Oh, yes, we will still be busy; but with Jesus carrying the load, we will be light, carefree, and can enjoy the spring days with purpose and freedom.

Galatians 6:9 tells us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  So, don’t “give out”, “give in”, or “give up”.  Just release.  Jesus will help us conquer the moments.  Then, when the year is history, we can say with Isaiah (26:7b), “O upright One, You make the way of the righteous smooth.”  Thank you, Lord Jesus, for being our Partner.
