THE BRILLIANCE OF WISDOM IN CHRIST

Prayer: We want to walk in wisdom from You, O Lord! We trust You to be our shepherd and guide us. Amen.
Scripture: Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like stars forever. Daniel 12:3 NLT
“Sure!” you might say to me, “but WHAT IS ‘wise?’” and how does someone become wise?
Is it education? Well, having spent some months as a jail guard, I can tell you that is not necessarily so, since I met college degreed persons on the other side of the bars. So education is not necessarily wisdom.
God’s Word is often the best source to define and explain itself. We read in Ephesians that wisdom comes from asking God. And the purpose of the asking is so that we might increase our knowledge of God Himself. “. . . asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.” Ephesians 1:17 NLT
Internalizing Scriptures as guides for our actions and decisions– that is how wisdom is given from God.
“You have been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15 NLT
Paul recognized this as the source for Pastor Timothy’s wisdom.
