WHAT ME WORRY? NO! PRAY!

Dear Lord, Please help me remember today that I do not need to worry but to trust You. Thank You. Amen.

Scripture: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6 NLT

I might be showing my age, but I remember a silly magazine that was published when I was a kid called “Mad.” And once it had a picture of a funny character called Albert grinning and shrugging his shoulders saying ‘What? Me worry?!’ The caption and picture took hold and was used often in comedy routines and general conversation. It was supposed to suggest that some people are too dumb to know what to worry about.

God’s word turns that whole concept of worrying around. It is not that those who worry are smarter than others. If comparisons under Scriptures were to be made, I suppose we would have to say that both were equally smart or dumb. The really wise ones, according to scripture are those who come to God with their concerns and then turn them into prayer and trust. God wants to be at the top of our list for meeting needs, both urgent and simple. He has promised to receive us– His servants and beloved friends– well, listen closely to us, and then respond according to His omnipotence (all powerful) and omniscience (all knowing) in just the perfect way and time.

May today bring you greatest joy knowing that all of your concerns are in God’s hands and are being addressed accordingly.

“Lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit and bind yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3 NLT
