How Are You Dressed Today?

By June 9, 2016Daily Devotionals

Prayer: Please teach us again how to treat other people like Jesus did.  Thank You.  Amen.

Scripture: Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Col. 3.12 NLT

You were CHOSEN by God. Can you imagine that?  Doesn’t that just make you shiver all over with joy?  You’ve been chosen for the team!

We all know what it is like to be ‘chosen last’ when we were kids in school, or even later.  But God chose you before you were ever formed in your mother’s womb.  You have responded to God’s call and now you are ON the team.  So, it’s time to put on the team uniform.

Our uniform is very special.  It is uniform love– unconditional love.  It includes a vest of tenderhearted mercy.  You wear kindness for your shoes and humility for your hat.  Your shoes of kindness take you where there are others in need. Your hat of humility reminds you how unworthy you once were and how that you are called in Christ’s name to serve.  Your vest fills your heart with love for others so that you are able to reach out to them in compassion no matter what they have or have not done to or for you.

Be love to someone today.

“. . .lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit and bind yourselves together with peace” (Eph. 4:1-3)
